"Incoming Data Center Hits Minor Utility Delay"
Because incumbents in our industry with the means to make a real difference have historically bought credits or funded side projects to get around core sustainability issues without addressing them head-on, we've put sustainability at the center of everything we do from the beginning.
The same people responsible for planning capital are responsible for enabling operations, with continuity creating accountability and optimal outcomes. https://twitter.com/WyomingBox/status/1440722023471206405 Only sustainable assets should be built going forward. We are developing in concert with Lumen’s network, edge cloud, security, communication and collaboration solutions and share Lumen's purpose to further human progress through technology:
Intel and Submer are using Intel Xeon-based immersion-optimized server boards and Submer’s precision cooling technique to demonstrate the reuse of high-grade waste heat generated by compute elements in data centers.
Wyoming Hyperscale memorialized our commitment to sustainable hyperscale data center development as a signatory to the Sustainable Web Manifesto.
As a concrete step toward building the first hyperscale ecosystem, using our liquid cooled data center as heat source, today, we're announcing the launch of a new equity affiliate, Wyoming Hyperscale Indoor Farms LLC. Wyoming Hyperscale Indoor Farms will capture rejected heat from our 30MW Phase I development and devote that energy to precision agriculture. We’ll continue to drive the kinds of innovations that our operating partner, Kay Thornock & Sons, Inc., has already implemented; for example: an autonomous, robotic, GPS-controlled irrigation system. The result will be fresher produce for communities in southwest Wyoming, who regularly receive wilted and sometimes moldy produce with very short shelf life, simply on account of being at the far end of supply chains that begin in California. In 2021, there is no reason for all Americans not to have access to fresh, local produce. This operation is only the beginning. Although our card playing history is playing match stick black jack with the cattle company guys on Spring Creek in Lincoln County before the fences went up, we are happy to have more card players joining the fun to ensure a stable frequency base load for our local PacifiCorp grid.
Bill Gates' next generation nuclear reactor to be built in Wyoming Please watch my webinar with Daniel Pope, cofounder of Submer, where we discuss Powering the Datacenters of the Future: Why Immersion Cooling is the answer for Hyperscalers, and the implications of Emergence and Expansion of Liquid Cooling in Mainstream Data Centers, a white paper recently developed by ASHRAE Technical Committee 9.9, Mission Critical Facilities, Data Centers, Technology Spaces and Electronic Equipment. We've selected Submer's technology for our clean energy corridor hyperscale cluster!
In the first phase of our project, Submer will provide us with 375 units of their SmartPodXL+ technology to be installed within our 30 MW hyperscale sustainable data center, equivalent to 80 kW per pod. The site and support infrastructure can scale up to 4,000 acres to provide customers with unrivaled compute power on a new long-haul fiber-optic node with 4 ms latency, by utilizing Submer’s immersion cooling technology. "Submer has built a strong reputation for building innovative, forward-thinking technology. Thanks to Submer, we have been able to overcome challenges companies face when wishing to build datacenters hardened against all potential natural disasters in the region, while also ensuring we remain sustainable and highly cost-efficient. We are confident that Submer’s technology will enable us to achieve our mission of building datacenters that are able to sustainably cope with ever-growing demand, today and in the future. Customers can expect the highest quality experience while also positively contributing to the surrounding environment and the local community. A win-win for all involved, and also the planet.“ Trenton Thornock, Founder of Wyoming Hyperscale About Submer: Founded in 2015, the company provides best-in-class solutions for HPC, hyper-scale, data centers, Edge, AI, DL, and blockchain applications. Submer allows data centers around the world to harness the power of immersion cooling to reduce consumption, costs, and latency while simultaneously increasing deployment speed and computer density per sqm. Submer is committed to providing the industry with state-of-the-art technological solutions that are innovative and smart while simultaneously increasing levels of sustainability and efficiency. Headquartered in Barcelona, with offices in Ashburn, Virginia and Palo Alto, California, Submer consists of an international team of engineering, technological and business experts. This confirms no state permitting is required.
Today, February 16, 2021, the County Commission voted to approve the Planning & Zoning Commission's unanimous recommendation on our Conditional Use Permit. We have 5 years from today to finish construction.
On January 27, 2021, the Conditional Use Permit to construct this facility went before the County Planning & Zoning Commission. With stipulations, it was approved. Thanks to all who assisted with this process!Recently, I had the opportunity to ask a trusted advisor about data center location. I said, "If you were going to build a new data center today, where would you build it?" This was the first reply, "I know where I wouldn't build one: In the downtown area of any city." - Director of Tech Services, global investment bank. This was in reference to the Christmas 2020 bombing of the AT&T regional interchange, which is still affecting users at the bank. This morning, there was another incident with a fiber cut in Brooklyn. The cut is also impacting Google, Zoom, Gmail, AWS, YouTube, Google Classroom, Robinhood, Slack and dozens of other web services. When will we stop putting data center capital in major metro areas?
